The things that separate each of us from being Donald Trump are … pretty much everything. It’s been interesting over the course of the past week to fully understand what a boor the man is, yet inside his insulated bubble, he simply doesn’t — or can’t — understand why most people find his personal actions abhorrent.
I’m willing to bet that there are few of us who have traversed life without some regrets (though hopefully none as egregious as Birther McAssclown). Let’s talk about this for a minute. But first, a word from our sponsor:
Bad personal decisions aren’t a uniquely human trait. Consider that the next time you swerve to avoid a blotch of fresh roadkill as you’re driving down the road. On the other hand, regretting bad personal decisions is uniquely human. That comes from having this little thing called a conscience.
I’ve come to some forks in the road during my time on the planet, and have probably chosen more than my fair share of bad paths. I can look back on most of those bad paths, and see (in hindsight) where I went wrong. Not too long ago (and without going into any details) I came to one of those forks. One sign had an arrow with the words “right path” painted on it. The other pointed toward “there be dragons here”. So which one did I choose? Wait for it.

Please understand that I’m getting on in years, and at the same time, I’ve always enjoyed the mythology of dragons. The challenge. The unknown. The potential life changing experience. But then, there’s a lot of that experience tucked into my 63rd year on the planet. Against all of my gut instincts, I chose “right path” for once. Even though I’m not sure I won’t regret doing so, I do know I won’t regret wrasslin’ with dragons once again. I crossed that off my bucket list a long time ago.
So, what’s up with you tonight? Did a path that you chose turn into a FP? (If so, hopefully not on an epic, Trumpian level). Are you on a dark and scary path right now, that might be a FP, or might not be because the end of this particular road hasn’t been revealed yet to you? Need some direction and advice? That’s the great thing about WYFP. Advice and guidance are both free.

A wee bit of housekeeping: One of our own WYFP’rs, JeffW is undergoing cardiac surgery this coming week. Kossack SaraR (the quilt lady!) put up a diary earlier today to get a quilt made for Jeff. If you have a little spare change in the couch, contributions would be appreciated.
Also, the regular crew of WYFP diarists could use a bit of assistance — the Saturday evening calendar needs some coverage during Jeff’s convalescence. If you can take a date over the coming few weeks (late October into November), please please please volunteer in the comments, or kosmail annieli. Yep, I’m begging. I’m not beyond doing that. I am out myself until after the new year, so please, step up and share your FP.
