The head of the Roman Catholic church in Philadelphia is at it again. Arch-bishop Charles Chaput who is a favorite of Tea Party groups and even won the “Edwin Meese” award from a Tea Party group for criticizing the President, has clearly gone off the rails.
Chaput’s latest screed was handed out to parishioners at church.
It is entitled, “About those unthinking, backward Catholics.”
Read it here.
This is a man who has clearly lost touch of his Pastoral duties.
After a screed against Obama and the Democratic Party, he makes a obligatory swipe at Trump then unloads against Clinton. Among the nuggets of wisdom in there, he describes Clinton:
“...a robotic liar with a lifelong appetite for power and an entourage riddled with anti-Catholic bigots.”
I guess that includes Tim Kaine who did mission work for the Roman Catholic church in central America because of his Jesuit education that taught him service.
Pope Francis has attacked the Ayn Randian ideas of the Republican Party. But Chaput seems to have his own agenda.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to remember what Jesus of Nazareth said to the first Pope, Peter about forgivness in Matthew 18:21-22.
Or with all the well documented cover ups of child sexual abuse the Archdiocese of Philadelphia has done, perhaps this should be remembered:
"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?”
(Matthew 7:3)
