Interesting data from CBS/YouGov this morning…
First, they had some state polls in the field from Wednesday through Friday and got he following results…
Arizona — Trump 44, Clinton 42 ( T -2 since Sept.)
Colorado — Clinton 42, Trump 39 (C +1 since Sept.)
North Carolina — Clinton 48, Trump 45 (C -1 since Sept.)
Pennsylvania — Clinton 48, Trump 40 (stable since August)
No matter the fallout from the latest round of e-mailghazigate, I love to see those numbers close to fifty in PA and NC. Win the states where we are way ahead plus NC or Colorado and the ballgame is OVER. But the much more interesting data was in a separate survey they ran from 10/28 to 10/29 where they recontacted voters and found that about four in five had heard about Comey’s little ploy and that 13 percent of Hillary supporters said it makes them more likely to vote for her with 6 percent saying it is possible they could switch based on what comes out but only One lonely percent saying it made them less likely to vote for her.
Among the other/not sure category, 1 percent said it makes them more likely to vote for Clinton while 13 percent said it could sway their vote depending what comes out and 21 percent said it made them less likely to vote for her. For a couple of weeks now, I have had a hunch that what was left of the undecideds were just people looking for a reason to go to Trump or not to vote at all. Maybe these numbers are more a sign of that than anything. I don't know.
The numbers did show it fired up some (but not as many as I would have thought) of the Deplorables. Trump supporters were now 35 percent less likely to ever vote for Clinton.
My take is that we still have the edge. In fact, our pushback can work and we might even get some of the people peeled off over the weekend back as the reporting fleshes out just how little Comey has. I have been nervous about this election from day one and this email situation doesn't help. But these numbers, knowing I will be doing a lot of GOTV and a couple of donations to Hillary and Russ Feingold Firday night have me feeling a bit better this morning.
Let’s work like hell now to get Hillary elected so we don't have to work like hell to rebuild our rights after Trump gets his hands on the courts and the nuclear codes.
