On August 18, 2020, we will be celebrating the centennial of the 19th Amendment — the Amendment to the Constitution of the United States that (finally) gave the women of this country the right to vote.
The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
Our sisters risked jail and beatings to secure for us the right to vote. And I will be forever grateful.
This year, in these next nine days, we have the chance to elect the first woman to be the President of the United States. Not only that — we have the chance to vote in such record numbers that our turnout and votes become the story of the election.
And women — the bulwark and backbone of the Democratic Party — will make this a reality.
