It’s just one poll.
But it’s raising a red flag from what I can see. And it means something for the down ticket folks.
Clinton and Trump Even in Latest Poll; Turnout Critical
A slim point separates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in the latest ABC News/Washington Post tracking poll results, cementing Trump's resurgence in the past week and marking the potentially critical role of turnout in the election’s outcome.
• Regardless of the closeness of current preferences and plans to participate, 60 percent of likely voters still expect Clinton to win. This, too, may be a risk to her, potentially encouraging some Clinton supporters not to bother voting.
Both the president and the first lady have warned against over confidence and complacency.
We need folks voting.
Is HRC leading in early voting? Sure. Democrats almost always lead in early voting.
The danger isn’t just that Democrats could see the election as being locked up by HRC and stay home. Another danger is that folks could view this as an election between a bad person and a person with bad judgment and stay home. Would they be wrong? Yes. But that’s a very real possibility.
In my view it ain’t over until she’s sworn into office.
