At the risk of becoming Mark Halprin — Here’s why I think the e-mail scandal is likely good news for Hillary Clinton.
1. For a full two years the American public has heard about Hillay’s emails non-stop, I can't imagine this incident- full of sound and fury but symbolizing nothing - will prove to be a substantial factor absent a map to dead bodies.
2. The fact this incident appears for all intents and purposes completely partisan is unlikely to hurt Hillary with likely voters.
3. The Director of the FBI might himself have broken the law in providing this information, which I predict will become a story in itself.
4. If there is nothing of substance in these emails, there will be a rather serious backlash by the end of the week, only encouraging Clinton voters to turn out and affording mea culpas from at least a few media sources.
5. And the most important in my opinion — the reason this is a key incident - it nullifies the Trump’s campaign rhetoric of a ‘rigged election’. Far from it in fact, it looks as if certain powers that be in Washington conspired to sink Hillary not Herr Trump. This is the biggest single issue — Trump will have a much harder time playing the conspiracy victim card after the election.
To sum it all up, Comey shot, missed, and the ramifications by the end of the week may prove exceedingly substantial and with the proper push-back, overwhelming in Clinton’s favor
