Jon Ralston is the guy to watch for Nevada politics. He's got good news based on the early vote: Hillary Clinton is winning the state. That's great, but here's the other part: the Senate race between Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto and Republican Joe Heck is still up for grabs.
Dems are up 15 points in Clark [County] (it was 16 in 2012), which is a point above registration, and that firewall is going to get to 60,000-plus, unless something strange happens. I repeat: Trump appears to have no path here, but the Senate race is not quite over yet.
It really is that close between them—less than one point. But it is definitely in reach for Cortez Masto, who's got the momentum. Heck is trying hard to tie the latest bogus Clinton email story to Cortez Masto, but it's not clear if he's made any headway with that yet.
He's still reeling from losing Trump supporters because he decided at the last minute he had to break with his standard-bearer, a choice that didn't go over well with the die-hards. Heck, by the way, is still not saying who he's actually going to vote for, and claims that his constituents don't have a right to know how he'll vote.
Nevada is critical on so many levels—keeping Harry Reid's seat blue and denying Republicans this flipped seat, giving the Democrats one more vote in the majority, electing the first Latina to the Senate. This is one that has to happen.
Can you pitch in with $3 to help Catherine Cortez Masto beat Joe Heck?
Senator Harry Reid is retiring. We must keep this seat in Democratic hands with Catherine Cortez Masto. Click here to volunteer on the ground in Nevada today.
