Good afternoon all. A busy week ahead for me as I'm sure it is for many of you. I've been thinking a lot about what we need to do to fight for our country. Here are a few things that we can think about and do today. I know many have probably been mentioned already, but it never hurts to hear it again.
Call your Congressmen and the Congressional leadership and demand an investigation into Trump’s business conflicts of interest with being the President-elect. This is something that should be done. It's ridiculous that his daughter is sitting in on meetings with world leaders while running the family business.
- Donate money and time if you can to the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, the SPLC and many, many of the other organizations that are fighting to protect our rights.
- Demand that the media STOP treating this as just a normal election and transition. It's NOT. We must keep calling them and holding their feet to the fire. Many of your local hometown papers pull a lot of their national reporting from these sources. Here are some numbers:
New York Times: 1 (800) 698-4637 Washington Post: 1 (202) 334-6000 USA Today: 1-800-872-0001 Wall Street Journal: 1-800-568-7625 AP: 1-212-621-1500
- Lastly, call the White House at 202-456-1111 or email at whitehouse.gov/contact and tell President Obama to appoint Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court since the Senate has failed to do their job.
Interesting piece by Eric Boehlert about how it’s time for the media to fight back since they are going to be (and already are) shut out of the Trump presidency. Here’s and bit from the piece:
By immediately signaling that he has no interest in providing journalists with even the most basic amount of access, and thumbing his nose at the long-standing American tradition of a presidential press pool, Trump has ignited fears about how his administration will deal with reporters, and concerns about whether game-changing restrictions will emerge.
These are my thoughts and ideas. Share yours. Let's be respectful and join together. Remember ….. if you add up the amount of people voted for Clinton, Stein and Johnson or wrote someone in …. we greatly outnumber these people. Take heart in that and move forward. We have to organize and get involved to save our country. We’re all on the same team here. Let’s be respectful in our discussion.

This is why we need to call the media and tell them to wake up!
