The people chose HER. With every passing day, this becomes clearer and clearer. Here’s the latest tally from the excellent 2016 National Popular Vote Tracker:
The tally here is clear as day — Clinton now leads Trump by over 2.5 million votes and by 1.9%. That 1.9% is a greater percentage spread than nine Presidents have won by.
There’s one clear message here — the people chose her.
No, that doesn’t mean she’s going to be President. The rules say, for all sorts of antiquated and rigged reasons, that the popular vote winner does not win the Presidency.
But, that doesn’t mean we give up saying this over and over — the people chose her.
- Tell every politician who will listen to you. Call your Democratic and Republican representatives and senators. Let them know who won the vote here . . . and who lost it. Make sure they know that the policies of the man who won the Presidency do not represent the policies of the people. Because the people rejected him. Almost 10 million more people voted for someone else than for him.
- Make the media pay attention to this. Be clear that this doesn’t mean you think she won. She didn’t. But, they need to have every policy discussion include this fact. “Should Trump really repeal Obamacare when 2.5 million more people voted for the candidate who wanted to keep it?” That should be the media framework for EVERY discussion. When it’s not, make your voice heard.
- Talk about this to everyone. Make sure that no one believes that he has a mandate. He does not. He lost. By millions.
Again, this isn’t going to change the results of the election. But, we have to resist the narrative and make sure everyone knows — THE PEOPLE CHOSE HER.
