Today is my other half’s birthday! Half of his birthday present will be here today, and the other half will be here in two weeks because we didn’t have enough to cover both at once. Luckily, they work independently as well as together. Of course I can’t tell you what it is, because he may just read this diary, so I’ll have to tell you all later :).
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

He doesn’t mind getting his presents late, though, because he knows it’s so close to Christmas. And I make a point of NEVER combining the two. His mom did that to him for years, and I refuse to. So he always gets Christmas AND his birthday. My mom always gives him both as well, which is he appreciates. He deserves a special day I think.
So today we’re making cake, and we’re having ham and green beans for dinner (one of his favorites). And I’ll make some bread to go with it. It’s supposed to be colder today, a high of 58 and a low of 32. At least it will feel like winter for a couple of days, Sunday it's back to 78 and into the 80s again next week.
The average temp for December here is 66 for the high. The average high this month is 72 (given the forecast for the last 3 days is correct). All year it’s been 5+ degrees warmer than average. Hopefully I don’t catch Caedy’s cold and end up in the hospital with all this temperature bouncing around going on. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
So how’s the weather in your neighborhood? Are you ready for the new year? I’m so done with 2016, but I have a feeling that next year isn’t going to be a heck of a lot better, at least not after Jan 20.
