This won't take long, but it is interesting to think about. Chris Matthews had a special two hour Hardball last night, covering the protests and Spicer’s despicable rant. In the second hour, he had his 2nd roundtable panel “Tell him something he didn't know”.
One of the journalists ( I can't remember his name at the moment) intrigued me with his nugget. He said he had been researching all day, and found that in widespread cases, in smaller cities and towns, Women's March attendance totaled about 20-25% of the towns population. He quoted a town around the corner of Wasilla Alaska, where when he called, the local police confirmed the numbers. The town has a population of about 5,000, and the police estimated march attendance at just over 1,000 people!
He went on to say that his research showed that even in Red states, including southern Red states, smaller to medium size towns were reporting in with the same approximate 20% number of their population showing up to march.
Yes, I know, some of those people were from surrounding communities that weren't having marches, but that’s not the point. The point is that The SS Trumptania hasn't spent one full business day in the White House yet, and already he's eroding not only his support, but possibly support for downline GOP incumbents as well. Now it’s our job to keep this simmering until the midterms. Letters to the editor of your local paper, visits to your local MoC’s district office to educate them, engaging your neighbors, forming small activist groups. It’s not going to get any better for Trump, traditionally a new Presidents popularity rating on inauguration day is his highest rating of his first term. We need to drive those numbers as low as possible to keep hinm depressed and feeling unloved, and we need to tie every incumbent MoC who runs in 2018 with Mein Furor with barbed wire.
