I marched with tens of thousands of other women in San Francisco yesterday on January 21. All day today, I’ve been thinking now what? Was the march the beginning or the end. Trump and his people hope and probably believe the march was the end. They hope the everyday burdens of the average person’s life will shift priorities and soon we’ll just go on with our lives and as frustrated and angry we may be, we’ll just go on with our daily lives. We cannot allow that to happen. I saw mothers, fathers, grandparents, students, workers, young, old and people of all races and colors march together to oppose Trump. People my age thought, although no where near perfect, we had fought for and had achieved to obtain some basic human rights for all regardless of race, gender and sexual preference. With a white supremacist and misogynist president in the office, what we had won with sweat and blood will soon be lost completely. So, what do we do now? We need everyone who marched on the 21st to be a soldier ready to stand up and march again as often as necessary until Trump and his people get the message that we are serious and we are here to stay. We cannot lose the momentum that has brought us together during the last few months. We need to stay committed and know this is a priority. Our lives will never be the same and our children will suffer the consequences if we don’t stand up now.
