There are two groups that have ecstatically welcomed the Trump regime's ban on travelers from Muslim nations. The first: American white supremacist groups. Terrorist groups.
Jihadist groups on Sunday celebrated the Trump administration’s ban on travel from seven Muslim-majority countries, saying the new policy validates their claim that the United States is at war with Islam.
Comments posted to pro-Islamic State social media accounts predicted that President Trump’s executive order would persuade American Muslims to side with the extremists. One posting hailed the U.S. president as “the best caller to Islam,” while others predicted that Trump would soon launch a new war in the Middle East.
This is why experts on the region are condemning the ban. It's not just ineffective posturing; it's destructive posturing. Trump was pushed into a weak, stupid move by a team of advisors interested only in the political motivations for the ban, not the security implications.
“This was a win for jihadists and other anti-U.S. forces,” said Richer, the deputy chief of the [CIA]'s Operations Directorate during the George W. Bush administration. “It fuels the belief out there that Americans are anti-Islam. Otherwise, it accomplishes nothing, because the ones we are most concerned about can still get to the United States.”
That's Donald Trump, undermining America's safety. That's the Republican Party, putting Donald Trump's own whims over the very security considerations that led past presidents and past Republican leaders to reject such a racist, bigoted stance. We're going to be less safe as a nation in the future then we were mere weeks ago, and that is on their heads.
This isn’t an ideological battle. It’s a battle between the id of white nationalism and … basic intelligence. It shouldn’t take even the span of ten minutes for political leaders to figure out which side of this wreck they need to be on.
