At times, when events of the day seem perplexing, it is helpful to look back to history’s lessons for clarity.
With this weekend’s confusion over who exactly wrote and implemented Himself’s illegal and draconian Executive Order, I thought we should go back and study the reign of the czars.
No, no, not those czars. We don’t have to go back a century (there was history way back then?). No, not even a decade.
These czars:
Yeah, you remember. Those non-elected, non-advised-and-consented despots appointed by His Imperialness Obama to rule over the American people, force them to drive efficient cars and send their kids to safe schools and other hellish things.
Republican outrage was quite understandable. Having unelected officials in charge of crucial national security issues like mortgage restructuring and green jobs is simply unacceptable.
No, unelected officials should be limited to harmless positions like permanent members of the National Security Council, where they can do nothing more consequential than order surveillance on citizens and determine who goes on the drone “kill list.”
That’s why I’m sure my Republican friends will agree with me: No more czars.
What? IOKIYAR?
I assume that means “It’s Okay If Yours Are Russian.”
