I was at the protest rally at LAX yesterday so I didn’t get the time to post this e-mail I received yesterday from Michigan Senate Minority Gretchen Whitmer’s (D. MI) gubernatorial campaign:
Yesterday, I called on Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette to file a federal lawsuit challenging President Trump’s executive order banning immigrants and refugees from certain countries from entering the U.S.
This ban not only hurts our state, it violates our shared American values of religious freedom and equality. It violates basic human decency to turn our backs on people, especially children, who are fleeing terror. And already, there are Michigan residents whose constitutional rights have been violated by this ban.
Add your name if you agree that Schuette must file a lawsuit – and join existing lawsuits – in federal court on behalf of Michigan residents who have been harmed by this ban.
It is Schuette’s responsibility to defend the people of Michigan, and immigrants and refugees are no exception.
We believe that Michigan's beautifully diverse population strengthens our communities and our economy, and as Americans we have a responsibility to defend our neighbors when they are under attack. We are proud to have thousands of people join our movement already, and we hope you’ll add your name today.
Thank you,
Gretchen
