Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with readers of Daily Kos who aren’t throwing pies at one another.
Drop by and tell us about your weather, your garden, or what you cooked for supper. Newcomers may notice that many who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but we welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.

THIS IS AN OPEN THREAD
Nothing is Off the Table
But play nice!

I have two adult children, the older one is turning 30 years old on Friday.
I have no problem looking in the mirror and seeing more and more silvery white hair showing up, or more wrinkles developing on my face. I’ve never been vain and have refused to dye my hair on the basis that I’ve earned each and every white hair on my head!
But to acknowledge that my oldest child can no longer be seen as a child by anyone in the world (except me) anymore? That one is tough.
But on the Plus side of that ledger are the two bright shining lights of my later years, my two sweet grandchildren. Also, the end of a really, really long road is nearing, my daughter posted this on Facebook last week:
Apparently, after paying for a college education, one must APPLY and pay to submit one’s application for GRADUATION!
So when your child leaves the nest, only to flutter home a year or three later on bruised and broken wings… remember that Life is what happens while you are making other plans. Roll with it and find a new path for your fledgling. It can happen.
And finally, after over 4 decades of an increasingly skeptical view of my fellow man, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ve been wrong for most of it. People are; even in light of the horrible, terrible, no good crew currently ensconced in the upper levels of our federal government; on the whole a bunch of really nice, friendly and willing to help folks. I learned this lesson on the campaign trail running for a Congressional seat.
“If you build it, they will come,” was the line from the lovely film, Field of Dreams. Turns out it’s true, if you put yourself out there and ask for help, from complete strangers? You’ll find that you had friends out in the world, just waiting to meet you for the first time.
On the Dark Side, I avoided the News all weekend, on the chance that the theory of Schrödinger's Cat might work on Trump — so long as I didn’t read any of his atrocious Tweets, he might be alive… or dead.
How was your Weekend?
