So, as the first of the noted consequences of Trump's failed raid, conducted while he was literally asleep at the wheel (probably from ODing on hair loss meds), Yemen has now complicated future missions against Al Qaeda:
Angry at the civilian casualties incurred last month in the first commando raid authorized by President Trump, Yemen has withdrawn permission for the United States to run Special Operations ground missions against suspected terrorist groups in the country, according to American officials.
McCain called the raid a failure after leaders on Capital Hill were briefed by the Pentagon. Al Qaeda urging folks to attack Americans in Yemen. The American aligned Yemeni government, such as it is, is pissed off at US over the dozens of civilian casualties.
Failed state. Civil War. Terrorist base. Presidential Ego. This is the kind of toxic stew that could spiral into a land war. The Pentagon is asking to be free of the tight reigns on Special Operations that President Obama kept with vigor. This could get real hot, real quick.
The White House calls all this 'success.' This total clusterfuck, they call success.
The reason you send in SEAL 6 is for a precision operation...success is you don't even know they were there. Killing a bunch of civs, losing $75 million worth of equipment, missing the target, having the whole thing in the news, screwing up with your in-country allies, and coming back with a dead sailor and injured sailors is pretty goddamn far from a successful moonless night commando raid.
Trump slept through his first military operation and it failed. Dead sailor.
That's all. Thanks.
