The angle that right-wing pundits are taking with the Trump/Bannon/Republican Muslim ban is that it isn’t a “Muslim ban.” That’s basically all they have since it is such a clearly unconstitutional and illegal and fascistic piece of executive overreach. Piers Morgan is what the English call “an asshole.” In America we call Morgan “an asshole,” and in Australia he’s known as “as asshole.” Australia’s Jim Jefferies is a comedian who you might remember from his gun control stand up comedy chunk that went viral last year. The two men were on Bill Maher’s Real Time show this weekend and things got heated surrounding the new president. Morgan is a conservative Trump supporter—he considers Donald Trump a “personal friend.” He was on the show to defend the Trump regime’s recent moves towards totalitarianism. His angle? Let’s not all be hysterical, everything’s normal, nothing to see here.
Morgan: There is no Muslim ban.
Jefferies: Oh f--k off! This is what you do Piers, you say he hasn’t done this, he hasn’t done that, he’s not going to do all these things. Give him a fucking chance, mate. Hitler didn’t kill the Jews on the first day, he worked up to it.
Morgan’s only response is to blather away about this “hysteria” and calling Trump “Hitler” is overkill. But the damage is done.
You just like that you won The Apprentice and you have a famous friend, mate.
That’s about as deep as Piers Morgan goes. Piers has been fielding a lot of blowback about this event on Twitter, and it clearly doesn’t bother him.
Maybe it’s bothering him a little?
It’s worth the watch.
