Neal Brennan is a comedian. He’s actually a fantastic comedy mind, best known (or not known) for co-creating and co-writing the famed sketch-comedy show The Chapelle Show with Dave Chapelle. He’s been on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah before and the two men have become friends around the fact that they are willing to openly talk about depression and things of that nature. But the other night, Brennan wanted to discuss the strange projection that is social media’s right-wing use of the term “snowflake.”
Neal Brennan: People on the right talk about liberals being snowflakes, meaning they’re overly sensitive and can’t take a joke. But Donald Trump is the biggest snowflake.
Trevor Noah: You think he’s a snowflake?
Brennan: Yeah, except he’s the color snowflake you shouldn’t eat.
Noah: Trump’s a mean guy. I don’t think you can call Trump a snowflake.
Brennan: Yes, you can, dude. Trump watches SNL—a show that’s known for mocking the President—and is somehow hurt that they mock him too. So Trump thought comedy writers would look at his life—his spray tan, his tiny hands, his hooker pee—and be like, “We can’t find a good comedy angle here?”
Week after week, he watches SNL, gets made fun of, Tweets about how bad it is, then watches it again the next week and gets butthurt all over again. But you know what they say: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me every week for a year straight, maybe I’m a fucking sociopath.
Enjoy!
As a side note I suggest, if you have a Netflix subscription, you check out Brennan’s Three Mics stand-up special. It’s unique and funny and impressive.
