New York Health has been re-introduced to the New York State legislature by Assembly Member Richard Gottfried (A.4738) and State Senator Bill Perkins (S.4371). Similar single-payer legislation passed the New York State Assembly in 2015 and 2016, but did not make it through the New York State Senate.
With the Republican attacks on the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and Medicaid, and escalating health care costs, it is more important than ever to get this legislation passed.
There’s a petition up at the Campaign for New York Health: http://www.nyhcampaign.org/pass_nyha_in_the_senate
Physicians for a National Health Care Program (PNHP) is covering it: http://www.pnhpnymetro.org/new_york_health
Single Payer New York is covering it: www.singlepayernewyork.org/...
WNYC radio had an interview with Richard Gottfried on his single-payer health proposal: http://www.wnyc.org/story/proactive-ny-policies-trump-era/
And I’ll bet you didn’t see this one coming - the Business Council of New York State, Inc. is strongly opposed: http://www.bcnys.org/inside/Legmemos/2017-18/s4371a4738-New-York-Health-Plan.html
Please, get the word out, get organized, and get busy!
