As the dead line for Storm-troopers to move into Camp Oceti Sakowin approached, water protectors set ceremonial fires in the soon to be abandoned site.
“As police prepare to raid Oceti Sakowin Camp on Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m., the water protectors clear out what remains of the former front lines of the struggle, demolishing some structures and burning others ceremoniously to commemorate the camp and its former inhabitants.
Other camps have been established in the past few months, with new sacred fires lit farther from police lines. The tribal government has asked protesters to leave while they try legal measures to fight the Dakota Access Pipeline; the water protectors still at the camps stand resolute.”
The photos are eerily reminiscent of ones taken after the Battle of Wounded Knee...thankfully, so far, sans the bodies.
But the spirit of continued resistance is being chronicled at #NoDAPL
The photo above was posted @ #NoDAPL as an example of resistance. Sharp commentators below point out that this fierce young lady was actually photographed in Santiago, Chile.
I know we all wish we could be there to stand with them, but lives have to be led despite their struggle.
Here’s praying for their continued courage in the new camps.

Unicorn Riot is live streaming: www.unicornriot.ninja/…
LE has arrested observers and non-mainstream media, perhaps 4-6. One man was taken down by 5-6 LE and a rumor says his hip was broken — not confirmed. Most of the Protectors have gone to other camps.
Governor’s spokeman was there and said that cleanup crews will move in at 9am tomorrow.
At this moment LE is moving backwards.
Arvol Looking Horse (keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf bundle) called yesterday for a prayer at 2pm Central time — asked all people to pray where they are for the Protectors and Mother Earth. I did so.
