Yes. I am yelling. And not apologizing for it. I am really angry.
I wrote a diary about one of the MANY things I’m angry about here:

So, that’s the background of my thoughts on Trump’s attack on trans gendered CHILDREN. Yep. That’s who he’s chosen to attack---those who can not fight back easily, and frankly, those who do not attract a lot of support, even from progressives.
As the days have gone by since Trump’s rolling back of trans gendered rights, my feelings about it have become more whole and fierce.
Listening to the politically pornagraphic rants of Sean Spicer on this, it becomes MUCH BIGGER than just the rights of the trans gendered.
Sean Spicer, as the representative of this administration, is trying to sell us, once again, on the idea that civil rights are up to each state.
NO. THEY ARE NOT. Like I said, we already fought that war.
Civil rights are a national/federal concern or we don’t have a democracy worth shit. Let’s keep in mind the sad fact that Democrats not only hold no power in the house or the senate, they also hold little power in the majority of our states. Check the stats on this. It will scare the hell out of you. And that may be a good thing.
The republicans will ALWAYS bow to state’s rights, particularly when it looks so good for them.
But the problem is, lest I need to explain it, is that we have NO civil rights as a nation, if we don’t have them federally. If we don’t agree as a nation, that civil rights are sacrosanct, then none of us have civil rights we can count on.
So, it begins with the most vulnerable. The trans gendered. In this case, the trans gendered CHILDREN, for God’s sake. There are no rallies to protect the trans gendered, and there won’t be---because not enough Americans can identify. Even here.
Here’s what’s to follow. Gay rights will become a matter of state’s rights via this administration. And then, emboldened as they are now by the absence of push back against their trans gender attack, they will continue on down their merry road.
First they came for…
YOU fill in the blank. It’s not just a matter of support for the trans gendered, it’s a matter of our support for civil rights as a NATIONAL issue, not a state’s right’s issue.
And the minute we let civil rights become a state’s issue, we’re right back where we were before the Civil War.
Do we want to fight that battle all over again? Well, we might have to. But for those of you who do not understand, or aren’t freaked out of your skull by the Trump administration’s recent cruel and petty pull back on good sense trans gender policies in our schools---well, fasten your seat belts, because this is the tip of the ice berg.
E.E. Cummings said it ends with a whimper, not a bang. But sometimes it begins with a whimper, and if we want to prevent the bang, we best listen to the first signs and signals.
