Yesterday, the Democratic Precinct Chairs of Harris County met to elect a new Chair for the Harris County Democratic Party. I’ve resisted writing about this since the outgoing Chair announced his resignation. Something that needs to be understood is this: Harris County is the third largest county in the nation with 4.5 million residents. It has 22% of the Texas population. Building an organized, motivated Party here is critical for turning the state blue.
Every club and organization affiliated with the County Party has seen a flood of new members and interest. People don’t like what they see in Washington. Right now is when channeling that new energy is critical.
Lillie Schechter is now the Party Chair. She can get the Party moving for the critical 2018 elections. As a precinct chair I voted for her and support her vision for the Party. Turning Texas Blue starts in Harris County. Leadership is in place and now we get to work keeping our county blue and taking the state with us.
