Reports of the demise of the EU may be premature. Many had predicted that, on the heels of Brexit and the election of Resident tRump, anti-EU forces would grow into an unstoppable wave, in elections in the Netherlands, France and Germany.
In the Netherlands, the anarchy and hatred crowd was led by Geert Wilders — leader of the Freedom Party. Wilders’ party had been doing well in pre-election polling.
The election was held today. Bannonites cooing for the destruction of the EU have had a set-back.
From the BBC:
Dutch election: PM Rutte's party leads exit polls
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte's party has won the most seats in parliamentary elections, first exit polls say.
His centre-right VVD Party won 31 out of 150 seats, polls suggest.
His party came far ahead of the next three parties, including Geert Wilders' anti-immigration Freedom Party (PVV), the Christian Democrats and the D66 Party, which each got 19 seats.
Mr Wilders' party had been leading in opinion polls but support for the party appeared to slip in recent days.
Voter participation in the general election was high - and experts say the final turnout may reach 80%.
Analysts say a high turnout may have benefited pro-EU and liberal parties.

Update.
There’s a nice update on the BBC on actual results, and it confirms Wilders’ party underperformed.
VVD are expected to get 33 seats.
The Freedom party was in second place on 20 seats, a gain of five, with the Christian Democrats (CDA) and the liberal D66 party close behind with 19 seats each.
The balance of the 150 seats will be split among a number of parties.
