Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley (D) sent out an email inviting us to his upcoming town hall in Jackson County. Finally a date and time when I'll be off work, and my husband is available, so I RSVP’d immediately for the both of us to attend. For anyone in the area: he will be at the South Medford High School Gym, this Saturday, March 25 at 5:30 pm. They say replying isn’t necessary, and we didn’t get promised seats, so I imagine we should head over as soon as I get off and hope for a spot. When I clicked on his link to accept, it also listed all the other Counties and Communities where he is holding town halls, this round specifically in Southern (west-side) Oregon.
The reason for my headline though, is that when I announced to my hubby that we were going to see Merkley...on a Saturday night...after working most the day, he gave me a...less than thrilled look. I just said, “Merkley has been one of the most reliable Progressive voices, and I want to make sure he knows we have his back.” What took me back was his reply, "Could he be the next Bernie? I would have voted for Merkley. I like that he's so much younger." (We both voted Hillary, and we both would have voted Bernie.) And that just made me think of him as a possibility as Dems struggle to find their next top of party name.
And then I saw this photo of him with Warren and said aloud, “Now that's a team!”
