I don’t even know where to begin. My heart is racing and I can barely breathe, so I’ll just go with my first response to reading this piece from Gail Collins [which I thought was satire at first]….
Don’t you dare. Don’t YOU of all people DARE to pretend you have any shred of respect for women. Don’t you dare use us to try to slow your plunging approval ratings with this farce. Don’t you dare act like you are not the embodiment of all that women have fought against for decades. You disrespect us based on how we look and how much we weigh and what we wear. You pay us less than our male counterparts. You openly brag about sexually assaulting us and about stripping women across the globe of access to family planning services and basic health care. You have always been our enemy, never our friend.
Do not dare pretend to be any more than that — we see through you. Millions of us marched against you, literally MILLIONS of us stood up across the globe and rejected you and all that you stand for. Don’t you dare pretend that didn’t happen, or that you somehow didn’t deserve it.
Don’t. You. Dare.
