Senator John McCain said today that anyone who thought the nuclear option, as a means of getting rid of the filibuster, was a good idea is a “stupid idiot" and a “numskull” (sic). He ranted that for 100 years the filibuster has served the Senate pretty well, and those who advocate its removal are deceiving their voters.
Then in the same breath, McCain said he would support changing the Senate rules to eliminate the filibuster because he was being forced to in order to confirm Neal Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.
So in other words, principles and tradition be damned, he will go ahead and join the stupid idiots and “numskulls” in getting rid of the filibuster, even though he thinks it is moronically wrong to do so. Of course he would rather have just defied the 250-plus year old tradition (and oath he swore) of upholding the Constitution by refusing to “advise and consent” on the previous nomination of Merrick Garland to SCOTUS by President Obama, then have Gorsuch confirmed for the stolen seat without any political price to pay. Sorry, Senator Ahole, but for once the Dems are fighting back.
And this is the guy who exhorted everyone to, “Put country ahead of party” when he ran for president. McCain’s an even bigger loser now.
