Hello again. Please allow me to (re)introduce myself.
With characteristic lack of finesse I barged onto Daily Kos last week, publishing far too many entries in rapid succession. (There's a reason one of my childhood nicknames was “Bulldozer.”) Please accept my apology for unintended rudeness, and my gratitude for your kind and constructive responses to those initial posts. Excepting my introductory post, I have unpublished them in the interest of consistency going forward, but first I read and appreciated each comment.
Your suggestions encouraged me to reconsider the “bulldozer” plan to publish my backlog of weekly post-election essays here. If you wish to read those earlier posts (and I hope you do!) feel free to visit my brand spanking new Wordpress page. It's a place to store my writing (not a money-making site) and it’s still “under construction,” so for now you'll find everything by scrolling down the home page, including the Facebook post that ultimately brought me here.
I'd like to share a bit more of that journey with you. On March 16, 2017, I posted a Facebook rant that sarcastically addressed the impact of proposed Republican health care “reform,” framed as a letter to my mother. It circulated on Facebook, and came to the attention of Leslie Salzillo, who shared it here on the Daily Kos. Someone (I don’t know who, but thank you) gave Leslie’s article to Thom Hartmann, who read it on his program.
Thanks to these events, my “Dear Mom” letter went viral. I remain stunned by the kind and supportive remarks that inundated my Facebook page, and by the number of total strangers who expressed interest in seeing more of my writing.
So here I am, with the intention of posting weekly political rants and reflections. (I’m shooting for “Wordy Wednesdays,” but life often interferes.) Expect more newbie blunders as I learn my way around, and thank you again for welcoming me to the DK community.
