Oh man, I have written and struggled with this diary for weeks, and decided over and over again to walk away from it. Because I figured it would end up in a Hillary/Bernie, sux/rox, deal, no matter what I wrote.
But, THAT is what finally pulled me out of my indecision to post. The desire to ask us all to rise above that. Oh, please.
For whatever reason, Hillary/Bernie pie fights are alive again! I have absolutely no interest in putting down one side or the other, as I have been on both sides, I have seen the light on both sides.
Still, I cannot tell you how musty and dusty it feels to me that we are still stuck on what is NOW long past. What is now arguments about two people who will never run for the presidency again. Old feuds. Old news.
Which is not to say BOTH candidates didn’t have important things to say. They SO DID. But neither of them won. I WILL REPEAT, for all those of you who want to fight the Hillary /Bernie war, even now, NEITHER OF THEM WON. Bernie did not win. Hillary did not win. It is somewhat gob smacking to me that so many here want to argue about who lost the most. Could there be a bigger LOSER platform than to shoot each other up as to who lost the most?!
Good God, we’ve got a whole new Trump world to contend with, without much power to stop a lot of it. And every darn time I see people argue here about SUCH FREAKING OLD NEWS, Hillary vs. Bernie, I think, how could we possibly be more in our own bubble, when the world is whizzing right by us.
Which is NOT to say there’s nothing to be learned by the bygone, but which is to say you can’t move forward if you’re glued to the past. No matter how much anyone here supported Hillary or Bernie, it’s pretty much a moot point now---NOT in terms of policy, but what I see here too often, in terms of political personality. Bernie and Hillary were closer in policy than many here will ever admit, but many were willing to sign up for the “personality” that suited them the best.
So imo what we have to do here, is FIND that which will win us seats and representation---which I highly doubt has anything to do with either Hillary or Bernie anymore, per say, and I think that those who think it does are stuck in the muck here, both ways.
I am SO FREAKING DONE with this being about Hillary VS. Bernie. It feels pathetic to me that we are still having that argument.
I TOTALLY WELCOME both of their voices, and hope neither of them drops out from our public discourse. Think they are BOTH brilliant in their own ways and do not want to traverse the difficult path we’re on without either of them.
But people, really, can we puleeeeeeeeeeze move on? It is NO LONGER about Hillary Vs. Bernie. Can we find a way to rise above that?!?!? Geeeeeeez, sure as hell hope so.
