Illuminating article by Mehdi Hasan about what really motivates the majority of Trump voters. He incorporates links to many different legitimate sources, including the latest from the American National Election Studies (ANES), which concluded that “whether it’s good politics to say so or not, the evidence from the 2016 election is very clear that attitudes about blacks, immigrants, and Muslims were a key component of Trump’s appeal.”
And yes, he does open by disagreeing with Senator Sanders (and Sen. Warren), but if we could try to have a discussion about the actual evidence he links, I think that would be more useful.
As Mr. Hasan says in his article, “Always remember: You have to identify the disease before you can begin work on a cure. In the case of support for Donald Trump, the results are in: It isn’t the economy. It’s the racism, stupid.”
TOP DEMOCRATS ARE WRONG: TRUMP SUPPORTERS WERE MORE MOTIVATED BY RACISM THAN ECONOMIC ISSUES
Edited title so that I’m no longer shouting at you guys. Luckily I didn’t add in 20 or so exclamation points while I was at it.
And while I’m editing, let me add this:
please consider reading the links included in this article before commenting. If you disagree with their findings, let us know why you think that. But for the love of Cthulhu, could we examine the motivations of Trump voters without making it all about the primary fight?
Or not. Carry on.
