A long-time friend of mine shared an item on Facebook from a group called Christians Tired of Being Misrepresented.
I have no contact with the group, I don’t follow their postings, I know nothing of them except that they are ‘tired of being misrepresented.’ I was thinking about that perspective after a sign I saw on a bike ride we sometimes do.

Last summer, my sister and I were training for her cross-country ride that started in September. She and our younger sister rode from the Pacific Coast in Oregon to Charleston, SC, in 1982, mostly on a major bike route. This time, nearing retirement age, she wanted to do it again, north to south, from the Canadian border in Washington State toward Mexico.
Most of our training was in the mountains along the NC/SC border, on roads I know quite well. Still, the routes are hard and challenging. One of the roads is exceptionally hilly, so it wasn’t unusual for us to stop at the top of the last hill for a breather. At that point, there is a driveway to a local residence. And at the end of the driveway one will see this sign.
Isn’t that remarkable!? The owner of that property is so invested in gun violence and the pathological hatred of others that he/she is willing to EXECUTE someone by gun for simple trespass. Even acknowledges in the sign that the person doing so merits going to heaven.
As long as Christianity takes no stand against hatred and behavior like that, it’s hard to take seriously the idea that they’re tired of being misrepresented. It seems, rather, like they endorse it. Along with the violence, the hatred, the discrimination, the bigotry ...
Maybe if they were serious about not wanting a war on Christianity, they could stop making war on other groups and viewpoints.

Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down. This comment by brianinca, under Dartagnan’s diary about the AirBnB host refusing to rent to an American, because her name sounds Asian, brought out what may be the worst of the “entrepreneurial” enterprises that litter the web.
