US military officers: DO NOT LAUNCH nuclear weapons under ANY circumstances.
Do not launch a first strike and become mass murderers, to be reviled for the rest of history, if humanity even survives the likely subsequent nuclear escalation.
If the evidence of whether there a nuclear attack to respond to is unclear in the slightest, definitely do not launch, no matter the orders. Remember Stanislav Petrov and Vasili Arkhipov.
Do not launch if a terrorist detonates a nuclear bomb. There’s barely a terrorist base in the world that merits even a 2,000 lb bomb.
Do not launch if North Korea launches. There is more than enough conventional firepower at American disposal.
Do not launch even if China or Russia launches. No good will come of it, just death.
What you do could make the difference between destroying and saving civilization or even much of life on earth. It as an awesome power. Do not launch.
No one needs to remind you that your oath is to the rules and principles in the Constitution, which incorporates the Geneva Conventions and other treaties to which the USA is a party.
Under the cold, inhuman logic of “mutually-assured destruction,” our deployed nuclear weapons system was set up for you to not question orders. Yet the competence of the Commander in Chief is in doubt. It’s high time to question, in advance so that your mind is clear if the time comes. What would you do?
