This is it.
This is the year.
Every district; every precinct.
I get it- running for office isn’t an easy decision to make. It’s a huge sacrifice. It’s exposing yourself, your family, and your friends to the bloodsport that our political system has become. Trust me, I know- I’m doing it right here in central Virginia, running for our state legislature against an entrenched incumbent with the largest warchest in the state, who’s so close with the Trumps he spent election eve with Ivanka.
Nobody’s challenged him for eight years, even after he helped kill Medicaid expansion time and time again. Even after he helped advance Virginia’s infamous transvaginal ultrasound law. Helped kill non-partisan redistricting, and even redrew our district to make sure it included his friend when he wanted to run for AG. Even with that odious track record behind him, when I talked about standing up, I got scoffed at.
It’s suicide, they said.
You’re doomed, they said.
You can’t run against him, they said.
No longer. Nobody- nobody- runs unopposed.
I don’t care if it’s a school board seat, board of supervisors seat, legislature seat, or friggin’ dog catcher; we need candidates running in every seat, every town, and every state in this country.
You can do it! It doesn’t take a fancy degree. It doesn’t take a JD. It doesn’t take decades of experience. All it takes principle. Tenacity. And a willingness to endure the true pain that standing up for our country’s values has always inflicted.
Our nation was founded by principled and courageous men and women, who took up the seemingly impossible fight for life, liberty, and justice, not because it was the easy thing to do, or the popular thing to do, but because it was the RIGHT thing to do.
It’s time. It’s time to take up the torch of leadership and civic engagement, and fight back against the vitriol and discord in our Republic.
It’s time we stand up and FIGHT- because, by God, America is worth fighting for. It always has been- it always WILL be.
And this is the year we take it back- it all starts, right here.
I'm all in, because of YOUR help- and I won't quit. Not now; not EVER.
