I have had a very frustrating day, trying to design a quilt using blocks I learned to make in a quilt guild workshop. I can only use small sized quilts and this block is 22 inches square so I am trying to use 3 full blocks and 6 half blocks that are irregularly shaped and devise a border that will unify them. I am spatially challenged, I have to see something to understand how it fits together so there has been a lot of trial and error. I have little progress to show for it.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

This is how I create. I have to cut and paste, cut and sew, try this and that because I just can’t follow a complete pattern. I buy patterns and only make ½ the number of blocks and join them with some other kind of border. I don’t follow instructions well if left to my own devices. Something else always suggests itself. If I only do this…..
But I am usually overly pleased with what I make and I think it all must reflect me truly because recently I was told by a guild sister that she could pick out my quilts in a line up. She meant it and I took it as a compliment.
So tomorrow, I will go back to work on the latest experiment. As Scarlett said “Tomorrow is another day.” I still won’t have a plan but I will have something to show for all the mistakes and sometimes wonderful results.
