FBI director James Comey appears to be confused about the role his agency played in the 2016 presidential election. He claimed Wednesday that his organization is "not on anybody's side," writes Meredith McGraw:
"We confused people -- we did a lot last year that confused people, because they're seeing the world...through sides," Comey said during an event in Washington, D.C. for a new television documentary about the FBI. "If you see the world through sides, the FBI doesn't make a lot of sense to people. Because you're saying, 'why did they help this person and hurt that [person]?'"
"We don't see the world that way," Comey added. "We are not on anybody's side. We really don't care. We're trying to figure out what's true, what's fair, that's the right thing to do."
The FBI may be trying to figure out what's true and fair now, but good god, nobody's “confused” about how “fair” the agency was during election, when Comey made unprecedented comments about an ongoing investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails—not once, but three times! And the second time—a little over one week before the election—was devastating to her candidacy, according to multiple statisticians.
Now we find out that while Comey was airing all of Clinton's dirty laundry over her emails, the FBI was investigating whether Trump's people were colluding with a foreign government to steal the election as early as the spring and summer of last year.
You're joking, right? Clinton's private server was worthy of breaking protocol but an investigation into treasonous behavior on Trump's behalf needed to be kept under wraps?
You can't mention one and not mention the other. So if you were unable to disclose the Trump investigation, then you should have just STFU.
