The message to those Americans who have signed up for medical insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), should be, we must continue to fight. Although the Republican attempt to “repeal and replace” the ACA, under the leadership of the new President failed, Trump is going to try to destroy the bill again. Why, well it is not quite clear why so many conservative members of Congress hate the ACA (Obama Care) so much that they have tried and failed to repeal it 60 times.
Many conservatives say they oppose the ACA by criticizing what they perceive as the rising medical costs created by the bill’s implementation. However, any rise in health insurance premiums in the last six years should be analyzed in context. In 2009, the Congressional Budget Office projected that by 2017 as the result of the ACA, average medical insurance premiums would be $5,538. Today Health and Human Services predicts that the average medical insurance premium in 2017 will be $5,586. According to Timothy Jost, emeritus professor of law at Washington and Lee University”, in reality, today premiums in many states are still below the cost of employer coverage.”
Other conservatives say they want to repeal the ACA because it is a socialist program that redistributes wealth. Yet, every western country in the world has some form of universal health care, including Israel a country that conservatives strongly support. Nor, do they question the socialist money distribution system that exists in the State of Alaska. Based on oil revenues “every man, woman, and child” in the state of Alaska are “given a check” once a year. The yearly check that Alaskan families receive amounts to a guaranteed income paid to them by the Alaskan government. According to “Georgetown’s University associate professor Karl Widerquist ;
“This is the closest thing to a basic income that has existed for any significant period, anywhere in the world... There are many people talking about it, but only Alaska has done it, and Alaska has been doing it for over 30 years.”
Hypocrisy, conservatives do not talk about the socialist payment of $22,883 that Sara Palin’s, family received from the Alaskan government in 2008 when she ran for Vice President of the United States . Staunch conservatives support their brothers and sisters in Alaska despite the states’ socialist policies. However they scream in indignation about universal healthcare. Their rhetoric is a cover up for their attempt to stop racial equality inside the United States.
The reason the “base” of the Republican Party wants to repeal Obama Care is racism. They , Trump, want to roll back everything Obama accomplished. But they will not be able to because how hard he tries Donald Trump will never be the man that Obama is and history will report that fact. Trump is amoral, period.
