Are you sick of the damned pie fight diaries from both sides? Dismayed to see another fairly reasonable front-page post turn into a flame war? Annoyed when yet another Airing of Grievances climbs the rec list? Or a three millionth attempt to win the Great Primary War of 2016 once and for all?
There’s a simple solution. Don’t rec the damned pie fights, even if they’re written by someone on your side. Don’t rec them unless you agree with every single word and they’re measured and they’re fair to your opponents. I promise you you’ll be recommending far few of them in the future.
Instead, rec other things. Let’s take a look through the recent diaries to see what’s been missed in the latest explosion of lemon meringue:
- A diary from a first time candidate in UT-04 taking on Mia Love. This is a candidate who’s chosen to come to this community for support. Why on earth are we knifing each other in the back rather than building her up?
- A Charles Gaba (Brainwrap) diary about the health care law and what Trump’s latest threats would do. Real people, real lives. Vitally, crucially important.
- A nice diary promoting Beto O’Rourke’s Senate campaign. We might actually be able to send Ted Cruz home from DC. Surely that’s worth a rec or three?
You can do this any time, any day. Stop flinging pies. Start drowning them out.
