I think it’s fairly accurate to assume that we all know that Trump is attracted to shiny things and that he has the attention span of a gnat. But if there is one thing that drives Trump more than anything else it is his narcissistic ego.
Swiftly approaching is Donald Trumps 100 day mark where the only things that have happened in that first hundred days have been the appointment of Neil Gorsuch to the supreme court. The other fifteen items he did was sign executive orders that prompted the review of regulations of protecting us from people like him, protecting the environment and rolling back sound regulation.
Regrettably, our fearless leader appears to have latched on to a perfectly timed shiny object better known as the 85th anniversary of the creation of the Army of North Korea as to distract all of us from all of his failures and shortcomings. The 85th Anniversary is today when one factors in the international date line: April 25, 1932 is when the DPRK army was founded.
On the way ( at least we’re being either led or misled to believe, who really knows these days...) is an international carrier strike group led by the U.S. Aircraft Carrier Carl Vinson, who has picked up a ship or two from other navies as to legitimize the international aspect of this “training mission” off the Korean coast. The backdrop to that is that the DPRK has threatened a pre-emptive strike on the Carrier strike group AND that insecure North Korea has consistently utilized these anniversaries to launch missiles or conduct nuclear tests.
Over the weekend major news outlets were reporting that Trump had spent the weekend reaching out to world leaders about North Korea but we really haven’t seen anything specific about what he is saying: Has he informed them about an intention of a military strike if they cross the testing line?
On Wednesday*, he has a private security meeting with the entire Senate over North Korea.
If you haven’t figured out these unprecedented acts, we’re about to vastly escalate our position on North Korea and directly oppose Russia and China in the process.
Frankly, this is a bit un-nerving as the city of Seoul is 35 miles away from the DMZ and that all of the dug-in artillery in the north will rain down a half million shells on Seoul in the first hour. Experts say the city would be flattened first in any conflict. The DPRK is estimated to be sitting on up to 5,000 tons of chemical warfare agents and has upwards of 800 missiles on top of all that dug-in artillery.
But the other part that is un-nerving is the timing of all of this sudden concern from the guy who said we would not be the worlds policemen or get involved with foreign affairs — or potentially start world war 3 as to distract from his lack of accomplishment from his first hundred days in office.
