I was one of the people who tuned out on this site during the Democratic primary. Daily Kos helped me stay sane during W’s terms in office, and its war cry to elect BETTER Democrats truly spoke to me. Better Democrats meant more progressive Democrats, at least to me. But, as most of us know, the man who created this site decided to support someone I didn’t think was the most progressive in that race. I’m not here to rehash what I assume were flame wars, I wasn’t here to see them, or participate in them; that seems self-defeating. When I left, I didn’t even file a Goodbye Cruel World (GCW) post, as I also think that’s self-defeating and self-indulgent, and who’s got time for that? I’ve seen in the news that dKos has been getting credit for supporting the Resistance when the National Dems were still sorting themselves out. Good on everybody here.
I’m back because I see an opportunity to see where the site’s “head” is now. Pete D'Alessandro, the man who ran Bernie Sander’s Primary campaign in Iowa, is running for a swing Congressional seat in Iowa, IA-3. I know Pete personally, and am going to do everything I can to help him. I’m sure he’s going to have a lot of help, but we all know that we have an uphill task to take the House back, and if we’re going to have any legislative ability to counteract Trump, it’s a district like this one where the real battle will be fought. I’ve reached out to Pete to get information on his campaign, including links, and will update ASAP. In the meantime, here’s the Guardian piece on the race here.
