Everyone has a role model that inspired us to work. Mine is my mother, Nancy.
As the director of the Tidewater Rape Crisis Center for 20 years, she helped pass the Virginia Marital Violence Act, a forerunner of the national Violence Against Women Act. She taught me growing up about the need to create equality for women in Virginia.
As a child, she took me with her door-to-door advocating for the rights of women and supporting strong female candidates like Shirley Chisholm. I saw first hand the power of advocacy. Because of her, I learned to lead by example, volunteering and engaging with the community. That’s why I am running for office today.
Will you help me continue my mom’s mission for all Virginia women by chipping in $21 today?
Today, far-right wing groups are working to dismantle Governor McAuliffe’s progress on protecting women's reproductive rights. We desperately need more voices in Richmond defending against the sort of foolishness like a "Day of Tears" and trans-vaginal ultrasounds that Ron Villanueva has promoted. I will lead that fight.
One of my key campaign pillars is full social equality. That means women are payed the same as men, have secure reproductive rights, and have equal access to health care. That’s why we need the support of grassroots supporters like you to take our working family values to Richmond.
In Solidarity,
Tom
