I just won the democratic nomination for the House of Delegates in District 73 in Henrico County, Virginia! Here is the announcement in the Richmond Times Dispatch!
I want to thank the Daily Kos community for all your support. You have been a big part of this. I wrote two articles on the Kos, I Live for My Children, I Fight for the Vulnerable and Now I am Running For Office… and Despite Trump, the American Dream is Still Alive and Well, and your support helped propel my candidacy!
The election was a firehouse caucus and drew about 600 voters, which is a huge number considering that unlike a primary, where you vote near your home, voters has to drive to a caucus meeting on either a Monday night (2 hour window) or a Saturday morning (4 hour window) to vote. I am honored to have run with three brilliant and dynamic candidates, Sarah Smith, Chelsea Savage, and Bill Coleman, who ran strong campaigns and helped bring voters to the caucus. They brought so much to this campaign and I look forward to their contributions as we move forward to beat John O’Bannon, the 17-year Republican incumbent. Our district is Republican-leaning but votes blue in presidential elections like we did for Hillary Clinton last fall. It will be a tough election but I know we can do it. O’Bannon receives hundreds of thousands of dollars from republican PACS, but we will prevail.
I am looking forward to the months ahead with the Daily Kos community as we move towards to the general election in November!
Thank you!
Dr. Debra Rodman
