So, after a successful week shepherding my parents around Northern California, I am back behind the keyboard for your weekly weekend tour of the intertoobs. Oh yeah, did I mention I saw Hamilton? Totally worth every minute refreshing the browser to get the tickets and every penny spent on tickets and merch.
Between the four of us, we put a few coins in Lin Manuel’s pocket. We came away with programs and the obligatory shirts that display our superiority to the rest of the public. I promise, though, that this will be the last I brag about it here. I will say that the touring cast is amazing. And this is from someone who has heard the original cast recording so many times that I actually understand Lafayette’s triple time verse in Guns and Ships.
But first, a word from our sponsors ...

So there’s this …Devious teens are stashing drugs in graphing calculators, DEA warns in WaPo
Warning signs of teen drug use include "disinterest in school," "lack of interest in clothing," new friends, and "excessive attempts to be alone."
The categories are so broad as to be practically meaningless, a reflection, in part, of the DEA's worldview that drugs are everywhere and everyone is a potential criminal.
The reality, of course, is considerably more mundane. Among teens, use of illicit drugs other than marijuana is near historic lows and marijuana use is flat or falling. There are a number of possible explanations for what's behind this — more entertainment options and a stunning drop in cigarette use chief among them — but one thing experts generally do agree on is that heavy-handed enforcement and scare campaigns a la the 1980s aren't one of them.
Even Rachel Leigh Cook, star of a 90s era anti drug ad, gets it. And kudos to her for this ...
And then there’s this. I generally agree with Reich, but the “Tolerant Left” is fed up with conservative bullshit. Milo is more than a hate speaker. He incites actual violence. Coulter is nearly as vile. And “the thugs”? Look in a mirror Ann.
And as for the Tweeter-in-Chief, suddenly a fan of the Executive Order?
No, Trump’s new offshore-drilling rule won’t bring us ‘energy independence’ at WaPo
While offshore drilling won’t make us energy independent, it could actually harm many local communities. “Offshore drilling puts at risk huge established economies and ways of life, particularly in the Atlantic,” says Alex Taurel, deputy legislative director at the League of Conservation Voters. “You’ve got huge tourism businesses and fishing threatened by spills or just the industrialization of the coast that goes along with drilling.”
In the Southeast Atlantic region, which is where Atlantic drilling would occur, tourism and recreation alone accounted for 309,633 jobs and $13 billion in gross domestic product in 2014, according to the National Ocean Economics Program at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.
Why won’t more drilling make us energy independent? Simple economics. More oil may mean more gasoline but it goes onto the global market. The oil companies aren’t going to simply drill our shores and turn it into gas for the US. They, being good capitalists, will sell it wherever it will make the most money. There is nothing keeping our oil here and there is no law or executive order that can do it.
File this one under “More Trump Obfuscations, Lies, and Half-Truths”.
Okay, one last Hamilton mention. Leslie Odom, Jr. still gives the definitive version of Wait for It. It is pronounced (IN-im-it-a-bull) not (Inim-IT-a-bull). Sorry. Word nerd. Please feel free to assail my take in the comments.
Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.

from your humble diarist:
Snud, and everyone that posted a response, get today’s tip of the hat. Find a fun thread here in Hunter’s FP Trump, on television, yet again displays ignorance and incoherence. And no, that's not normal.
from The Marti:
This comment by Mrmuni12 in 100 Days: Hannity Asks 'What is Trump's Biggest Accomplishment?' Twitter Hands Him His Ass by News Corpse is spot on and wicked smaht!
from Mike The Liberal:
I would recommend this comment by nancyjones in Carl Bernstein on MTP: "He has lied as no president of the United States in my lifetime has" by Lefty Coaster because it reminds us how much work we still have to do, and how far we have to go, to get Americans to get beyond the "They all lie" garbage that is way too prevalent in our country.
