On Tuesday, 55 Democratic members of Congress signed on to a letter they sent to unpopular-amongst-non-white-supremacists President Donald Trump telling him to fire his senior counterterrorism adviser Sebastian Gorka, now.
As Members of the U.S. Congress who care deeply about fighting anti-Semitism at home and abroad, we urge you to immediately dismiss senior White House counterterrorism adviser Sebastian Gorka,” the letter states. “Based on recent revelations about Mr. Gorka’s public support for and membership in several anti-Semitic and racist groups in Hungary, he is clearly unfit to serve in any position of responsibility in the White House.
Gorka has come under fire over the past few months after it became clear that having Nazi sympathizers in your cabinet, openly wearing the medallions of Nazi sympathizers, wasn’t the best look, even if they do represent your base. Specifically, Gorka’s connection to the far-right group known as Vitézi Rend. Gorka, for his part, had been coming up with a series of excuses that didn’t quite add up and finally lost his mind on Twitter. This was followed by the news that he was also trying to doctor his Wikipedia page to scrub away some of his personal history. Hey, can you blame him? Nazis have one thing in common these days besides Donald Trump and Steve Bannon: they work pretty diligently to revise the last 75 years of history.
But all of this spinning could not save Sebastian “I love Nazis” Gorka. A couple of days ago it was announced that Gorka would be leaving White House life to pursue private Nazi sympathizing. It was reported that he couldn’t pass the first and easiest set of security clearances. Considering the terrifying crew of sketchballs in this administration, that’s a pathetic job interview indeed. White supremacists were super bummed out about this.
As the letter says:
Mr. Gorka’s associations with these groups are deeply troubling. We urge you to fire him immediately, and to make clear that you condemn all forms of anti-Semitism and intolerance within our country and abroad.
I can only hope the door does hit him on the way out.
