A quick post from the BBC — FOX News is experiencing ‘network difficulties’ with the continuing turmoil as key figures depart.
The ancient adage was never wrong, and thanks to Fox News we can now offer an update: to lose one may be considered a misfortune; to lose two is a sign something's up; but to lose three is a sign that something is rotten in America's most watched news network.
And we’re waiting to see if #4 is about to depart. Via Digby, picking up on a report from the Daily Beast:
Sean Hannity is looking to leave Fox News, according to sources, following the resignation of Fox News co-president Bill Shine officially on Monday.
Shine was Hannity’s long-time ally whom he personally recommended the network hire two decades ago to produce Hannity & Colmes. In recent days, Hannity warned it would be the “total end” of Fox News should Shine leave, and he rallied conservative activists to back him up….
...Hannity warned last week on Twitter that firing Shine would be “the total end of the FNC as we know it. Done.” He started a “#IStandWithShine” hashtag, and in his final tweet before a self-imposed “shutting down” of his feed, Hannity on Sunday promoted a Facebook page called “Stop the Scalpings.”
(Of course, it’s worth noting the departure of so many women from FOX didn’t raise such concerns. It takes a blow to the Patriarchy to get some attention.)
At this point conservatives should be celebrating — they have what they’ve always wanted: the White House, Congress and the Supreme Court, and dominance of the media. Too bad guys.
Funny how things can go sideways so fast. Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of barbarian troglodytes, not that they still can’t do a lot of damage… When selfishness is your core value, it’s every man for himself.
