Donald Trump's Army secretary nominee and Tennessee lawmaker Mark Green withdrew his name from consideration Friday, saying he was a victim of being unfairly held to account for his own past statements.
“Unfortunately, due to false and misleading attacks against me," Green wrote, "this nomination has become a distraction. Tragically, my life of public service and my Christian beliefs have been mischaracterized and attacked by a few on the other side of the aisle for political gain."
Turns out all that misfortune and tragedy befell Green after the "liberal left" quoted him and stuff, like when the New York Times recounted him saying, “if you poll the psychiatrists, they’re going to tell you that transgender is a disease.”
Or maybe he shouldn't have linked to that post claiming "homosexual activists" were targeting him "because he's Christian."
Or perhaps it was that radio appearance in which he compared transgender individuals to "evil" and said the point of government is "to reward people who behave well and to crush evil. [...] So I’m going to protect women in their bathrooms."
It’s a shame you just can’t say whatever you want these days. Leftists are so touchy.
