You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows and you don’t need to be a political pundit to know that FBI Director Comey was just fired as a means of subduing if not stifling outright the ongoing investigation of the Trump-Russia connection; but it sure is nice to find out you’re right and other people are thinking exactly the same thing
Clinton campaign team denounces Comey firing according to The Hill. The reason? According to Senator Tim Kaine, "Trump firing Comey shows how frightened the administration is over Russia investigation."
And Robby Mook, Clinton campaign chairman, submitted this for our approval: “Twilight zone. I was as disappointed and frustrated as anyone at how the email investigation was handled. But this terrifies me."
Hit this link to read how social media users react to news of Comey's firing.
“Trump’s firing of FBI Dir. #Comey raises serious questions & highlights need for special prosecutor to look into Trump-Russia ties.” Senator Jack Reed.
“Firing of #Comey compromises investigation of White House ties to Russians – no doubt now special prosecutor is necessary.” Sen. Richard Blumenthal.
#Trump fired #Comey. “Nixon fired Cox, Richardson, and Ruckelshaus. Didn’t work then, won’t work now.” Rep. Brad Sherman.
I'm with Robby Mook. We are in a Twilight Zone episode and we're in an alternate universe where Watergate, The Sequel is being played out. Same basic themes, same basic characters, just a bit of 21st Century spin with computer technology, social media, and a level of corruption that even the most depraved Roman would have been surprised by back in the days of the Empire.
Top off the popcorn and fasten the seatbelts, this is going to be the proverbial bumpy night.
