I am applauding the hold that Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) has placed on the nomination of Sigal Mandelker to the position of Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.
So what does Senator Wyden want in response? Just some accountability for the coverup activities by the +Rump regime:
Wyden said the hold will stay in place until the Treasury Department provides "any information that relates to financial connections between Russia and President Trump and his associates," to the Senate Intelligence Committee and Senate Finance Committee. Wyden is on both committees.
Remember the dozens of holds GOP senators inflicted on the appointments of the Obama administration? Folks like Cruz and Cotton were particularly fond of abusing the hold on unrelated appointments or just to be vindictive and attempt to inflict personal pain on President Obama. They used holds to ridiculous excess:
At one point Senator Ted Cruz, Republican of Texas, had a “hold” on all political nominees for State Department positions, partly as a way of punishing President Obama for the Iran nuclear deal.
At another point Senator Tom Cotton, an Arkansas Republican, put a hold specifically on Butts and on nominees for the ambassadorships to Sweden and Norway.
I am loving these fighting Democratic senators.
