Republican Governor Scott Walker is running for a third four-year term as Governor of Wisconsin in 2018.
Walker won the governorship in 2010 due to the “Tea-Party Wave” that swept across the country, especially in Wisconsin, sweeping Russ Feingold, Steve Kagen, and others out of office. He was re-called in June of 2012, but due to lower-voter turnout, he was able to hang on to the office. In 2014, another good year for Republicans, he won re-election to a second term.
He’ll be running for re-election in 2018, which should be good for Democrats nationally. Considering historical trends, the party controlling the presidency tends to lose seats in the first midterms. In 2018, Wisconsin Democrats could make a comeback.
Walker has went after union rights, hasn’t raised the minimum wage to a living wage, his policies are hurting the middle class and the poor, his insane voter ID laws have made it damn near impossible for many to vote, and he is owned and operated by the Koch brothers. All these reasons are why we must get Scott Walker out of office, and elect a Progressive to fill his place.
Walker has hurt Wisconsin with his outrageous Conservative thinking but we can put an end to it and make Wisconsin Progressive again. Who’s going to challenge him? Bob Harlow announced last year that he’s running on the Democratic side, but who else will run? I’ve often said that Russ Feingold should make a run for the Governor’s office and many others in Wisconsin support that idea. Former Senator Feingold recently started a new group, “LegitAction” and could easily win with his anti-free trade, pro-middle class policies.
