Okay, I don’t know what impeachment means for the working classes in this country, but I am increasingly convinced that it is bound to happen. Per The Hill:
Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) on Wednesday said reports that President Trump pressed ousted FBI Director James Comey to end an investigation would merit impeachment if true, becoming the first Republican lawmaker to broach the idea.
The New York Times on Tuesday reported that Trump tried to pressure Comey to stop investigating former national security adviser Michael Flynn, citing a memo written by Comey.
Asked by The Hill if the details in the memo would merit impeachment if they're true, Amash replied: "Yes."
"But everybody gets a fair trial in this country," Amash added as he left a House GOP conference meeting.
Asked by another reporter whether he trusted Comey's word or Trump's, Amash said: "I think it's pretty clear I have more confidence in Director Comey."
Now, obviously Amash is a Representative who’s been very and vocally critical of Trump. And when you consider that 31 Democrats defected and supported the bullshit impeachment inquiry of Clinton, it’s clear that even when you adjust for Repug duplicity, this is only a start. But it’s a good start, and a start we couldn’t have imagined last week given the rabid spinelessness of the House majority..
Humbly submitted: any progressive investigative journos who can should start looking really closely at the Pence-Flynn boondoggle. If he isn’t embroiled in his own scandal from the get go, he’s gonna pass a lot more bad shit than Trump would.
