Normally on the west coast we’d be basking in the sun….gone lo these many months of winter. We’ve gone through our closets, digging out the shorts and t-shirts, short sleeved blouses, summer dresses and our fave sandals. I’ve stocked up on sunscreen and dug out the sunglasses. I’ve even purchased extra spuds, eggs and mayo anticipating my famous potato salad will be the main supper dish along with coleslaw.
And I’ve lined up all my spring and summer projects. I have an old table I’m in the middle of restoring, the garden beds need cleaning out and planting, the garden area needs netting put up to keep the deer, bunnies and raccoons out and the last of the landscape ties put down, the gravel raked out and a few small chores need doing. But this year’s big project...staining the porch has been anxiously awaiting my attention. The tools and stains are purchased, sitting nice and tidy in my spare room, my artist’s rendering of the design is done, everything is planned and ready to go...except for one thing…
Where’s the f*%$*#$ sun??????
It’s been so cold here, I’ve had to run my heater at night. I haven’t yet seen the sun except for a precious few moments two days ago. It’s been too bloody cold and windy to do anything outside in any comfort. Somehow, I have to at least get the garden planted and hope the seeds will sprout, but everything will likely be two weeks behind in their growth. Obviously the porch is not going to be started for another week, and by then Murphy will have raised his irritating head and it’ll go from 10C to 35C with no gradual heating up at all and I’ll be sweating and overheating trying to get the work done.
Sigh…
Now you know MFP...what’s yours?
